Hugh Magee was born ca 1825 at Braddan. He followed his father into the trade of wool dyeing. In 1841 he was living with his parents and employed at Union Mills.
He married Leonora Creer on the 21st of November, 1847, at Patrick. He appears to have spent the rest of his life in Patrick, presumeably working at the woolen mills at St. Johns.
After the death of Leonora in 1872 he married for a second time on 19th of June, 1875, at Braddan to Margaret Moore. He was buried on the 8th of January, 1904, at German, when his age was recorded as 75 years.
