John Radcliffe was baptized on the 15th of February, 1836, at Andreas. He married Ann Jane Kinrade on the 6th of December, 1863, at Braddan. He died in Liverpool Infirmary and was buried at Maughold on the 16th of December, 1897.
In 1841 he was living with his parents and sister Margaret in Andreas Village. He has not been positively identified in the 1851 census but was probably visiting on the farm of John & Elizabeth Gale (his parents & sister were living at Leodest, Andreas).
In 1861 he was living with his widowed mother at Ballasahan(?), Andreas. He was unmarried and employed as a blacksmith. Living with them were Jane Clarke, 14, and Thomas Radcliffe, 3, both described as grandchildren of the head, Esther. Thomas is undoubtably the John Thomas who was baptized at Dhoon on the 29th of November, 1857. Jane Clarke has not been identified.
By 1871 John had moved to Maughold and was living with his family at Ballasloe, where the family are recorded in 1881 and 1891.
