Robert Moore was born ca 1795. He married Esther Costean (Costain) ca 1815, probably in Arbory, though a marriage record has not yet been found. He was buried on the 17th of July, 1876, at Arbory. The Memorial Inscription reads:
Sacred to the memory of Esther Costain, wife of Robert Moore of Ballacomish, who departed this life the 22nd of August 1868, aged 77 years. Also in Memory of Robert Moore, husband of the above, who departed this life on the 14th day of July, 1876, aged 89 years.
A mason, he and his family were living at Ballacomish, Arbory in 1841. The family are at the same address in 1851 though Robert is now listed as a farmer of 15 acres as well as a mason. In 1861 the family are still farming at Ballacomish though Robert is no longer listed as a mason. In 1871 Robert, a widower, is still farming at Ballacomish. Living with hims are his two unmaried daughters, Catherine and Jane, and his unmarried grand-daughter Margaret Lawson.
