John Lawson was baptized on the 21st of August, 1791, at Rushen. He married Elizabeth Gick on the 5th of October, 1815, at Malew. He was buried on the 14th of March, 1860, at Arbory, although a gravestone would indicate that he died on the 5th of May, 1860, aged 69 years.
In 1841 John and his family were farming at Oatlands, Santan. By 1851 the family had moved to Ballacomish, Arbory, where John was farming 21 acres and employing one man.
