Robert Lawson 1819 - 1890

Robert Lawson was baptised on the 8^th of August, 1819, at Lonan. He married firstly Jane Hogg on the 14^th of June, 1845, at Lonan and secondly to Ann Morrison nee Cowell on the 10^th of February, 1861, at Lonan. He died aged 71 years and was buried at Lonan on the 4^th of November, 1890.

He was a miner at the Laxey mines. In 1841 he was living with his mother & step-father together with his sister Ann, brother James and step-brothers Thomas and William. In 1851 he and his family were living with his widowed mother in Laxey Village. In 1861 the family were still in Laxey, Robert with his second wife Ann. His mother was living with them. The 1871 census shows the family living on Old Laxey Road. In 1881 Robert was unemployed. He and Ann were living at 12, Beach Road, Laxey.

Ann Cowell

Ann Cowell was baptized on the 18^th of July, 1819, at Lonan, the daughter of James Cowell and Catherine Cowley. She married firstly william Morrison on the 1^st of June, 1844, at Onchan and secondly Robert Lawson on the 10^th of February, 1861, at Lonan. She was buried on 27^th of January, 1890, at Lonan.

There were three children of the first marriage:- Ann Morrison, baptized 24^th of April, 1845; Sarah Morrison, baptized 4^th of June, 1848; and Mary Morrison, baptized 1^st of September, 1850. All baptized at Onchan. There was no issue of her second marriage.
