Ann Moore was baptized on the 2nd of September, 1781, at Lonan. She married firstly James Lawson on the 4th of January, 1806, at Lonan. After the death of James in July, 1817, Ann, who had been widowed with six minor children, married secondly James Caine, of Andreas, at Braddan. Ann died on the 20th of January, 1824, at Douglas.

The humble Petition of
Anne Lawson of Douglas, Widow of
James Lawson late of Douglas deceased

Sheweth
That in the life time of desd
James Lawson your Reverence was
pleased to make an order or judgement
on him ordering him to pay to his aged
Father and Mothers the sum of four shillings
british per week, toward their support
and subsequent to the decease of yr Petitioners
said husband Jas Lawson, Petr was also
ordered by your Reverence to continue
the payment of the said four shillings
toward the support of the sd Edwd & Anne
Lawson, which order amounts to eight pounds
ten shillings british or thereabouts.

Yr Petr humbly begs leave to state to your
Reveremce that on the 22nd July last
past, the said Anne Lawson departed this
life and petr interred her wholly & solely
at her own entire expences which fully
amounts to the sum of six pounds british
as can be made to appear, petr also furnished
the said Edwd& the late Anne Lawson with the following
goods, namely five pair stockings 5s, two
pair of shoes 5s one handkerchief 3s 6d
petticoat 3s two yards & one quarter linnen 2s one
second hand jacket & pair pantaloons 5s one
second hand bedlow 2s 1d two shillings worth
of flour and the further sum of one pound
and twelve shilling british which was
paid to the said late Anne Lawson by my
directions and upon my account which
Sum I paid to the said
by William Moore
which sum I paid him afterwards
and which respective sums amounts
to £10 - 13 - 6 british, including Six weeks
boarding & lodging for the said Edwd Lawson
Senior subsqt to the death of his wife the
said Anne Lawson

Petr wd humbly submit to your
Reverence that in all Justice and Equity
the said sum of £10-13-6 ought to be
deducted out of the amt of the said order
as no other person whatever would
inter the said late Ann Lawson or in
fact would not give the sd Edwd and
Anne Lawson Sustenance or clothing
but yr Petitioner.

In ....... consideration of the
foregoing circumstances, your
Petr prays a hearing of
this petition and a re
hearing of the said Cause
and that your Reverence
may be pleased to Deduct
of the amt of the said order
or Judgement or out of the
weekly substenance of
four shillings british the
said sum of £10-13-6
british and that the said
order may be suspened
and petr will pray

Ordered that this petition do come on to be
heard before me at a Court to be holden in
Douglas on the 30 day of Oct whereof
all parties & persons are to have legal notice
and the said order or Judgment is Suspended
given this 24 day of October 1818

In the Name of God Amen.
I Anne Caine (alias Lawson alias Moore)
Wife of James Cain of the Town of Douglas
Considering the uncertainty of this
mortal life and being of Sound and
perfect mind and Memory Do make
Ordain and Appointe this my Last
Will and Testament in the Manner
and form following
and principally and first of all I commit
my Soul to God and my body to a Decent
Christian Burial

2ndly I Leave and Bequeath unto my Son
James Lawson the sum of five pounds Brit
I leave and Bequeath unto my three
Sons namely John, Thomas and Robert
Lawson the sum of twenty pounds
British Each
I Leave and Bequeath unto my Daughter
Anne Lawson the sum of Forty pounds
Brtish my best feather Bed and bedding
and all my wearing apparall
I Leave and Bequeath unto my two
youngest Sons William and Joseph Cain
the sum of Forty pounds British Each
to be paid them by my Executor when
they Come to the age of fourteen years
but the beforegoing Legacies Bequeathed
are not to be paid untill Each of the
before mentioned Children arrive at the
age of Twenty years.

I Leave and Bequeath unto my
Husband James Cain all and singular
that of my part or Moiety of our dwelling
House wherein we live situate in
Drumgold Street in the Town of Douglas
adjoing the Rent of the Late James
Lawson Deceased on the East the Rent
of John Lewin on the South the Rent of
Thomas Curphey on the West and the
aforesaid Drumgold on the North in front
and Likewise my part or Moiety of the
House adjoining our Dwelling House
Commonly Called and Known by name of
Lawson's House bounded by the Rent of
Margaret Cubbon the East the Rent
of the Late Mr Henry Moore on the South
the Rent of James Cain on the West and
the Common Stree on the North together
with the half or my part of the Back
Yards back Houses and Out offices belonging
to the aforesaid premises.

I leave unto any person or persons
that Shall or may Claim any right to this
my Last Will the sum of five shillings.

Lastly, I Nominate Constitue and
Appoint my Beloved Husband James
Cain Whole and Sole Executor of all the
Rest of my worldly Goods moveable and
immoveable be they of what kind or nature soever
and this I affirm to be my Last Will and Testament
the 23rd day of June one thousand eight hundred

Douglas do acknowledge to have received
from James Caine of the sd town of Douglas
Executor of the last will and testament of
Anne Caine als Lawson als Moore the sum
of Five pounds British the full amount of the
Legacy bequeathed to me in and by last
said will of the said Anne Caine deceased.
And I do hereby release acquit exonerate
and discharge the said James Caine his
Heirs Excrs admors and assigns of the same forever

foregoing will named is sworn
well and truly to fulfill and execute the
same to pay all the Testators just debts
& legacies so far forth as the goods will extend and
the law bind him an to return a full
true and perfect Inventory of the estate
of the Testatrix when therunto lawfully
required and to do and perform all
other acts and things necefsary or
Appertaining to the Office of Executor

into a bond unto the Lord Bishop
and his succefsors the
Sum of six hundred pounds that
said Probate hereof is granted unto
